Cam Brensinger just might be the embodiment of the phrase often uttered to job seekers, “do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”  Merging his passion for all the outdoor life offers with his interest in design, Cam found his way to the perfect (second) degree in Industrial Design. Working his way through the coursework, the seeds of NEMO Equipment, Inc. were sowed, allowing him to put into practice the intersection of his hobbies and skillsets.  Listen here as Cam and Pete discuss everything from dorm room escapades to pheasant hunting to the challenges of founding, running, and growing a successful outdoor equipment business.

What I am Reading / Listening to

When I am speaking to groups of Entrepreneur Owner-Managers, I frequently kick off the mutual introductions by casually asking, “Top of mind, what product or service has improved your quality of life in the past few years?” I am not asking the only, or the most, just… top of mind.

Mind Body Problems: Science, Subjectivity, and Who We Really Are

What I am listening for is the domain that the answers originate from because that can often give me a real sense of the person.*

Recently, someone in one of the groups asked me, “So okay Mr. Smartypants, what product or service has improved your quality of life in the past few years?” (EOMs are a hardy and oppositionally defiant breed.) My off-the-top of my head answer was “podcasts.” I love the accessibility of the wide spectrum of incredible learning we have available today, anywhere, anytime, on our handheld devices.

So here are my current “go-to“ podcasts:

EconTalk: Russ Roberts

EdgeCast: Edge Foundation

Exponential Wisdom: Peter Diamandis & Dan Sullivan

Found My Fitness: Dr. Rhonda Patrick, PhD

Freakonomics Radio: Steven Dubner

How I Built This: Guy Raz

The Joe Rogan Experience: Joe Rogan

Making Positive Psychology Work: Michelle McQuaid

Making Sense: Sam Harris

MAPS: Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies: Hosted by Zach Leary

Masters of Scale: Reid Hoffman

The Multiplier Mindset: Dan Sullivan

On Being: Krista Tippett

The Peter Attia Drive: Peter Attia, MD

Recode Decode: Kara Swisher

The Tim Ferriss Show: Tim Ferriss

*Interestingly, in the more than ten years I have been asking this question, no one has ever answered with a service or product from the public sector.
